A Plea for Support: Help Us Build a Roof Over Hope

Our Story

At Nandume, we believe that no child or family in Outjo should go hungry, and no meal should be prepared without shelter, dignity, or safety from the elements. Right now, we are working to prepare warm meals for those who need them most โ€” but we lack one essential thing: a roof over our kitchen space.

Without cover, our ability to cook, store food safely, and serve our community consistently is limited by weather, dust, and the changing seasons. A roof is not a luxury for us โ€” it is the foundation that will allow everything else we do to continue.

We are reaching out today to our friends across Europe, and to local businesses here in Outjo, to ask for your help in three specific ways.

Three Ways You Can Help

๐Ÿงฅ 1. Clothing Donations

Warm, gently-used clothing โ€” for children and adults alike โ€” makes an immediate difference, especially as temperatures drop. If you, your community group, or your business would like to organise a clothing collection, we would be deeply grateful. We can advise on sizes and needs most in demand.

๐Ÿฒ 2. Meal & Food Donations

Non-perishable food items, staple groceries, or contributions toward ingredients help us keep meals going for those who depend on us. Local businesses in Outjo โ€” grocers, farmers, bakeries, and restaurants โ€” your surplus or discounted stock can go directly toward a warm plate for someone who needs it.

This is our most urgent need. A secure roof over our kitchen and preparation area will allow us to:

  • Cook safely, rain or shine
  • Store food and ingredients properly, reducing waste
  • Serve meals reliably, without interruption
  • Build a lasting space the community can depend on for years to come

Namibia and Europe share a long history, and many of you have already shown extraordinary generosity to communities like ours. We ask you to consider a one-time gift or an ongoing monthly contribution toward our roofing fund. Even a small amount, converted from Euros, goes a long way in Outjo. If your church, school, workplace, or civic group would like to “adopt” this project or run a collection on our behalf, we would love to partner with you.ย
