At Nandume Welfare Organization, we believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive. Based in the heart of Outjo, Namibia, we are a dedicated non-profit organization committed to restoring hope and providing a nurturing environment for orphans, vulnerable, and less fortunate children. Since our founding in 2009 by Mrs. Anastasia Gabathuler, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that every child has the opportunity to fulfill their dreams and aspirations.

Who We Are

Registered with the Ministry of Health and Social Services under the National Welfare Board, Nandume Welfare Organization (Registration No: W.O.530) operates with a clear purpose: to uplift the lives of those in need. Nestled in a community of over 3,000 residents across six informal settlements, our organization stands as a beacon of hope in an area where many children walk miles to access education and basic services.

Our Vision

We envision a future where every child in our community has access to essential needs such as education, healthcare, and a supportive environment. By offering Christian disciplines, nutrition, security, clothing, and overall support, we aim to empower the next generation and foster resilience and growth.

Our Location

Outjo, located 320 km from the capital city Windhoek, is a small town rich in history, founded in 1897 as a military base. Set against a backdrop of stunning low hills, our town serves as a vibrant home for our organization and the children we support. However, the lack of school and hostel facilities in our area poses significant challenges for the community’s youth.

Our Challenges

Despite the progress we’ve made, we face considerable hurdles. Many families in Outjo struggle with financial difficulties, limiting their ability to send their children to school. Our organization operates from under a tree and on the streets, striving to create a safe haven for children. Our primary challenges include accommodating older children and securing consistent funding to expand our programs.

What We Aim To Do

To meet the needs of our children, we focus on several key initiatives:

  1. Hostel Facility Operations: Providing safe accommodation and necessary utilities for our children.
  2. Nutritional Feeding Program: Ensuring access to balanced and nutritious meals to promote health and growth.
  3. Health Services: Facilitating access to medical care and regular health check-ups.
  4. Educational Support: Funding qualified teachers and supplying educational materials to enhance learning outcomes.
